Audio reproduction of tourist information in vehicles - using distance sensing controller of conventional car radio-cassette unit

An information reproducer for tourists in large or small groups gives audio information without requiring a tour guide. It is sufficiently economical to be suitable for individual tourists. It can be mounted in a vehicle and contains a controller determining the distance covered and using the corresp. electronic signals to control a tape player giving the tour description or other information according to the distance along a fixed route. The controller can simulate parts of the route which are omitted or can omit parts of the route which have been covered. Pulses proportional to vehicle speed are derived from speedometer shaft rotation on an associated stepper motor and counted to determine distance travelled. The device can be fully, or at least partially, integrated with an existing car radio-cassette device.
