The shaft (2) of the pump is extended into a governor (1) in which it carries centrifugal weights (5). These move a sleeve (6) which is connected through a pivoted arm (8) to a lever (9). The lever is coaxial with an adjusting lever (12) whose point of pivot can be adjusted to regulate the engine. The first lever moves a second pivoted arm (15) which is connected (16) to the fuel quantity adjusting rod (3). A vibration damper (10) is fixed to the casing of the governor and its moving plunger (10a) is applied directly to the first lever. It effectively prevents cyclic oscillations of the engine speed being amplified by the governor.
