The universal mud flap is intended for fitting to a motor car wing (7) and comprises a main flap portion and a fixing portion (3) adaptable to the wing contour. The portion (3) may be provided with a bendable metal strip. The flap is secured to a flanged edge (8) of the wing by one or more clamps which engage the flange (8) and the portion (3) together with the metal strip if provided. The clamp consists of two jaws (10, 12) secured together by at least one screw (15), and located relative to one another by a distance piece (11) so that they are approx parallel when secured.
