The remote control system is intended for an energy meter, which permits the consumer to be switched to reduced, or increased, tariff etc. Both the low tariff and the high tariff stage can be directly connected to installations drawing a large amount of currents, such as heating radiators, electrical furnaces or other industrial equipment. The consumer will be able to compare consumption at the two rates. A display unit is provided which is fitted to the consuming equipment. It has an optical and an acoustic signal element. The display unit can either be an integrated part of the consuming installation or can be optionally attached to it.
