Cleaning and cooling castings coated with foundry sand - in conveyor trough subjected to both vertical and transverse components of vibration

The plant consists of a trough with a semicircular cross-section; and the castings travel along the trough towards a sieve sepg. the sand from the castings. Both vertical and transverse components of vibration are applied to the trough, so the castings are cooled and freed from sand as they travel between the inlet and outlet ends of the trough. The trough may alternatively consist of a tube, and in either case may be fitted with additional cooling devices, esp. nozzles employed to spray cooling wate onto the castings. The trough or tube may also have a double wall forming a cavity fed with cooling water or other cooling medium. The cpd. vibration compels the castings to follow a helical path so intensive cleaning and cooling are achieved.
