Gas generator system for warhead - has perforated tube through main charges with plugs forming chambers and holding generator gases

The warhead for e.g. a missile has sets of explosive charges arranged one behind the other. A set may consist of four cylindrical charges with the axes of one set offset by 45 deg. from the axes of the next set. Through the centre are corresponding gas generators (12). Each set consist of a tube (14) with a pattern of gas discharge holes (15) through it, holding plugs (13). At each end of a plug is a short tube section (12) forming a chamber for discs (17) forming the charge. These are enclosed by a sleeve (16) of copper, aluminium, plexiglass etc., between 0.5 and 1 mm thick. Between the discs (17) are spacer discs (18) of inert material. Inside each end of each plug is a fast burning ignition charge (22) of e.g. black powder, and between them an igniter (23).
