A gilled tube for heat exchange purposes is fitted with gills which are produced as stampings with a conical collar. In assembly, each collar end is pushed under the collar of the adjoining gill and the set is held together by rings at both ends. Longitudinal shrinkage or diametral tube expansion ensures a tight hold. Such gilled tubes are capable of withstanding high thermal stresses. They are simple to mfr.
