Bale-breaker with pinned opening roller - has open=ended grille reinforced by fore and aft presser rollers

Bale breaker has a movable carriage carrying an opening roller with pins which project through the bars of a grille to pluck tufts of fibre from the top a series of bales across which the carriage moves to-and-fro. Parallel with the opening roller is at least one presser roller which holds the bale steady against the action of the opening roller. Preferably, a presser roller is provided both in front of, and behind the opening roller. The surface of the presser roller is formed from a series of toothed rings. It is driven by the motor which moves the carriage, and rotates in the same direction as the opening roller. Extra roller prevents the bales from tipping under the force of the opening roller.
