One section of the flanks of the teeth of a pinion which engages with a worm in a domestic service machine, is of a material having a greater resistance to wear than the remainder of the length of the flanks. The wear-resistant material may be introduced through openings in the teeth, into a cavity formed by annular grooves on the pinion and a toothed ring fitting on it, by the injection of synthetic material or metal. Pinion is produced easily and shows great resistance to abrasion even when shock loading is continuous.
