Load dependent vehicle headlamp adjusting mechanism - has gearwheel and contact disc system for snap action reversal of motor

The headlamp adjustment system has an electric motor and a drive which tilts a headlamp about a horizontal axis, to conform with the loading of the vehicle. The motor rotates a gear pinion (5) whose teeth (4) mesh with the teeth (3) on a gear wheel (1) which intermittently rotates a switching disc (9). This controls a set of switch positions, and has a snap action for changing over from one position to the next. The mechanism is designed to tilt the headlamps of a vehicle so that they do not dazzle oncoming drivers. Overlapping of contacts is avoiding, thus removing a source of electric faults.
