In the detection and quantitative determination of antigens, antibodies and antigen/antibody complexes, organic chemical substances which display chemoluminescence after introduction of ozone are bound to one of the reactants and after serological reaction has taken place are detected by their chemoluminescence. Provides sensitive and quantitative procedure, avoiding the use of radioactive substances, suitable for both liq. phase and solid phase procedures. Suitable organic substances exhibiting chemoluminescence in the presence of ozone include aesculin, benzoin, dinitrophenol, fluoroisothiocyanate, haematoxylin, methylene blue, acridine orange, fluoroscein, phenosafranin and methyl violet.
