Clasp for multipin connector halves - employing simple spring of round wire acting on clasp and pivot on connector case

The clasp is of the type formed as a U-shaped which fits across the width and partially around two sides of the connector sections (1, 2) to be held together. The U-section (5) of the clasp is typically a metal pressing. A spring (11) of round wire is fitted to it. One end of the spring (15) bears against a pivot pin (3) on one half (1) of the connector. The other end (12) hooks round the transverse part of the pressing. A lug (16), formed into the side plate (6) of the pressing, acts as a fulcrum. The upper part of the side (6) is hook shaped (7) to close over a pin (4) on the upper part (2) of the connector. When pushed into this position the spring action against the pivot pin (3) in the elongated slot (8) in the lower part of the pressing holds the connector halves together.
