Handling system for sugar beet - having intermediate buffer store with up to one hour's capacity to allowing long term storage to be filled

Beet store for sugar factories has several storage silos to allow a steady feed of fresh beet to the plant despite unevenness in the supply to the factory. An intermediate silo is beated between the delivery point to the factory and the plant where the beet is processed. Capacity of this silo correspond to between 1/2 hr and 1 hr of the factory feed requirement. The silo has a spray device to feed off the beet down a channel by flotation. The silo also has a cover to prevent overfilling. Used on beet sugar factories, the arrangement allows steady operation at the factory with fresh beet despite the widely varying delivery rates to the factory during different periods in the day.
