Appts. for applying adhesive foil to cylinders (I) has a foil supplying station and a foil perforating station at which the foil is perforated at spaced locations. Foil is fed by a drive in synchronism with (I) supplied in spaced relationship, the perforations being disposed between (I). Foil is folded about (I) and then heated to activate the adhesive for application of the foil to (I). Foil is then cooled to fix the bonding and then the bonded (I) are severed from the foil at the perforations. Used for replacing tin plate housings in dry battery cell mfr.
