Parent Patent discloses dental tartar-inhibiting properties of certain polyamino-polyphosphates, without decalcification, when used in oral compsns. within given pH limits. In present Patent of Addn., oral compsns. for preventing tartar on teeth contain (a) as active ingredients, a tartar-preventing quantity, e.g. 0.01-10 wt.% non-toxic polyaminopolyphosphonic acid having general formula (CH2)n-(N(CH2PO3H2)2)2 (I) where n is 1 to 10), or its water-soluble non-toxic salts derivs., and (b) as carrier, a food for human or animal consumption. Compsn. pH is 5-11 (7-10). Compsns. can be eaten and digested. Within given pH range, compsns. do not decalcify dental enamel and do not affect mildness or taste.
