ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREDisclosed are a process and apparatus for producing anidentification element having an integral holographic recordingas part thereof. The identification element is formed using aninterference pattern produced by combining an object beam and areference laser beam. The object beam is produced by reflectionof information on the identification element. The interferencepattern is recorded on light sensitive material which is firmlyand durably combined with the identification element. Unlikeprior arrangements, the hologram (interference pattern) is notproduced separately and then united with the card, which couldresult in errors or damage to the hologram.
