Hollow glass fibre roubaix support for tip of fishing rod - formed by winding resin-impregnated glass fabric onto mandrel

Roubaix support for fishing rod tip consists of hollow glass fibre like the other components of the rod. The support is mfd. by winding glass fabric impregnated with curable synthetic resin onto a flexible metal mandrel of which the natural shape corresponds to that of the support to be mfd. The support is then extracted from its mould by extracting the mandrel via the base of the support. The apparent wt. of competitions rods 7-10 m long is reduced, by lightening the tip, and several tens of cm are gains on the length of the rod without affecting its general rigidity. A damper of rubber thread is inserted between the line of the rod and the end of the tip, and the strength of glass fibres is provided in addition to the elasticity of the rubber damper.
