A device for the electrification of a livestock fence, comprises a voltage source (U) connected across a pulse generator circuit including a unijunction transistor (6), a pulse shaping circuit including transistors (11, 18, 20) and a relay (22) whose contacts (23) are connected to the primary (24) of a transformer (25) whose secondary (26) is connected to the fence and to earth by contacts (27). The saw-tooth pulses from the pulse generator are formed by the pulse shaper into rectangular or square pulses. The width of these pulses is adjustable by variable resistance (16) which controls the bias on the transistor (11). The pulse width is inversely proportional to the current supplied to the fence. A voltage regulating circuit comprises diodes (28, 30) and a resistor (29) connecting the base of transistor (11) to a time constant circuit (32, 33) to maintain constant the power supplied when the voltage source (U) is a battery.
