The generated pulse has a high steep peak and a flat top for ignition of controllable inverter diodes. The generator has two voltage sources one of which is in series with the emitter-collector path of a transistor (1), a resistor (2) and primary winding of a pulse transformer, whose secondary winding is in parallel with the diode control path. A second resistor (6) and collector-emitter path of a second transistor (5) are in a series with the transformer (4) primary winding. The transistor emitter is connected to a negative potential (USI), and a diode (3) anode is connected to the second resistor (6). Its cathode is coupled to the first resistor (2). The first transistor (1) emitter is at reference potential.
