The filter in the dish-washer for the circulating water is situated in the base of the machine between th utensile being washed and the water drain. The filter covers the drainage shaft which has a subsidiary pipe (12) leading off it. The subsidiary pipe (12) in the machine base (5) forms an annular duct (6) comprising the filter (21) of the drainage shaft (20). The subsidiary pipe (12) leads into an emptying pipe (14) leading to a pump (13). The outer rim (18) of the annular duct (6) formed by the bottom of the container (5) is deeper than a fine sieve (19) covering the drainage shaft (20). The annular duct (6) is covered by a coarse sieve (10) positioned lower down than the fine sieve (21). The subsidiary pipe (12) leads off from a collector compartment (11) of the annular duct into the emptying pipe (14).
