Extending ladder with hoist - uses small trolley running on stepped rollers which is raised by cable passing over pulley

The hoist is for handling building materials and makes use of an extendable ladder (1) (2) with a horizontal arm (3). A small trolley (5) runs on stepped rollers (6) which fit the uprights of both parts (1, 2) of the ladder. The trolley is raised by means of a cable (8) which passes over the pulleys (9, 10, 11) and is wound on to a drum (13). The drum (13) is driven by a motor (14) mounted on a frame (15) attached to the lower rungs (16). The hoist is easily adapted to any extendable ladder including those with three or more sections. This feature makes the hoist particularly useful for small builders carrying out repair work.
