Cooling air flows between cowl (2) and cylinder head (7) to pass over the engine cylinder head and cool it. The plug pocket (6) in the air passage protects the cooling air against pollution due to leaks at the plug. The seating (15) is such that the polluted air passes through the plug pocket the sleeve passes through the cowl and may be made removable by bayonet cup fasteners. Alternatively, the shell (17) may be bonded to the cylinder head which is suitably shaped.
