The device has a thermal screen (4) arranged above a hot part (3) that is integrated to a support (1) in an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. The screen is defined with an exhaust passage (6) for passing hot gas emitted by the part. A cowl (5) is extended from the support (1), in an overhang manner, above the screen for forming a hot gas deflection pipe (7) with the screen and the support. The pipe deflects hot gas traversing the passage. The cowl forms a directing unit that directs the inflammable liquid i.e. fuel, flow towards the screen.
