Process for forming a colour image in a photographic material comprising =1 silver halide emulsion layer contg. a silver image, by treating the material with a first basic aq. redox amplification soln. contg. (a) a silver halide developer, (b) a Co (III) complex which liberates coordinates in definite manner on redn., the complex having a coordination number of 6 and contg. monodentate or bidentate coordinates, =4 of which are amine coordinates, and (c) 0.05 mole/l of a cpd. which forms tridentate or higher denate coordinates with cobalt. The improvement comprises the photographic material comprising =1 silver halide emulsion layer having an associated RDR cpd. which liberates a dye by oxidation-reduction.
