The overpressure safety device is intended for oil-impregnated power capacitors, in which an excessive pressure can be generated under adverse conditions and can destroy the capacitor. At the bottom of the capacitor housing (1) is incorporated a stationary rim (2). The housing bottom proper (3) is in the form of a diaphragm of spherical shape, forming an inwards dished shell. The outer edge (5) of the diaphragm housing bottom is preferably flat. On appearance of an overpressure in the housing the bottom diaphragm is moved downwards, thus actuating the safety device (4).
