Thermosetting unsatd. polyester resin compsns. contain a combination of a free radical initiator and an activator comprising an organometallic complex which is a metal salt of a fatty acid(s) contained in drying oils of iodine value =180, and also an oxime stabiliser. The fatty acid is pref. a di- and/or tri-ethylenic acid, e.g. linoleic, linoleic and eleostearic acids, and it may be associated wit other satd. or ethylenically unsatd. fatty acids. The metal in the complex is Co, Ni, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Pb, Ce, V, Ca, Mg, Al, Cr or Zn. The oxime is of formula RR'C=NOH (where R and R' are indep. alkyl) and is used in amts. of 0.1-5 wt.% based on activator. The compsn. is storage stable at room temp. but cures rapidly in use when heated to 80-150 degrees C.
