Medicaments for increasing the growth of wool and increasing the ratio of secondary wool follicles to primary wool follicles in fleeced animals contains a 4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo(b)thien-t-glurea deriv. of formula (I) (where R1 is H, 1-3C alkyl, allyl, prop-2-ynyl or methoxy; R2 is H or 1-3C alkyl and U is -CH2- or =CO). Composition contg. cpds. where R1, R2 are H are specifically claimed. Used to increase the growth of wool and increasing the ratio of sec. to prim. wool follicles by admin. of (I) to llamas, sheep, goats, rabbits and chinchillas. (I) is administered orally, usually by adding to animal feed in weight quantities of 15-60 ppm, or parenterally, generally as =1 sub-cutaneous implants which releases 0.0005-0.2 (pref. 0.001-0.10) mg/kg/day of (I).
