PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF L-CARNITINAMIDE D-CAMPHORATE AND D-CARNITINAMIDE D-CAMPHORATE

The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of L-carnitinamide D-camphorate and of D-carnitinamide D-camphorate, characterized in that it consists of: a. converting a solution of D, L carnitinamide hydrochloride to a free base solution of D, L carnitinamide; b. reacting the solution of the free base of D, L carnitinamide directly with D-camphoric acid, thereby obtaining a solution of D, L-carnitinamide D-camphorate; vs. drying the solution in stage b and taking up the residue in a lower alkanol containing from 1 to 5 carbon atoms to form an alcoholic solution, so that a solid phase, comprising L-carnitinamide D-camphorate crystallizes in the alcoholic solution; and D. in separating this solid phase from the alcoholic solution comprising D-carnitinamide D-camphorate.
