Thermoplastic profiles for joint inserts - to reinforce hollow thermoplastic window frames etc., to compensate for inherent weaknesses at mitred butt joints

Angled joints between lengths of hollow profiles of thermoplastic materials are reinforced internally with inserts of ribbed thermoplastic profiles which are push fit into one or more channels within the main profiles. Pref. the inserts have ends cut to form mitred joints with internal partition close to and parallel to each side of the joint to receive a limited quantity of a melt adhesive to bond the joints together. Used for mfr. of window frames, etc. so that the joints and corners are not less resistant to impact or drop testing than the central portions of the lengths of the channel profiles used.
