TV receiver signals scrambler - divides video signal line into samples and cyclically interchanges time position of samples

The process of scrambling a television signal divides a line of video signal into a preselected number of samples. The time positions of a set number of these samples are then interchanged. For example the first samples are interchanged with the remaining samples so that the latter appear first in the line signal. The change in the sample positions in the line signal is received to unscramble the video signal. Any number of permutations of sample positions may be effected and the process is particularly advantageous since the chrominance and luminance signald and the line synchronisation signals are unaffected. The process also avoids the complications involved in known techniques using coding of the line signals.
