Solar heating system for swimming pool - includes shallow strip of water surrounding pool and increasing area receiving solar radiation

The rectangular swimming pool is surrounded by a solar heat collector. the solar heat collector comprises a shallow step lying just below the surface of the water, so that around the main area of the swimming pool is a shallow strip of water pref., 1 metre wide. This constitutes between 40 and 70% of the area of the swimming pool. The filter and pump unit is so arranged that water flows through the shallow heat collector in the course of its circuit, thus using solar energy to raise the temperature of the water. A transparent cover of plastics material may be provided over the perimeter region enclosing the water which is being heated.
