摘要
The object is selectively coated with a paint or varnish via a cold process to form a decorative pattern, which also functions as a mask leaving bare zones on the object. The film of paitn or varnish is applied by printing and has a constant thickness; and the bare zones are then covered with =1 electroplated coating to a thickness larger than the thickness of the paint or varnish so the latter is in recesses and a relief pattern is obtd. The film of paint or varnish is pref. =15 mu m thick and applied by transfer- or screen- printing, then drying and deburring before electroplating, which pref. includes the use of a noble metal. The metal pref. has a thickness of 25 mu m to 0.05 mm greater than the paint or varnish thickness; and the objects are esp. plastics.
