The locking brake for drawing equipment consists of parts which are pressed against braking surfaces. An operating part moves the braking parts from a release to a locking position and vice versa, and is electrically driven (22) by a motor which operates by means of a gear mechanism (20) with automatic locking. The gear mechanism with automatic locking is a spindle drive (20) with the spindle joined to the driven shaft of the electric motor, and with a spindle sleeve (20) touching at least one of the braking parts.
