The assembly for securing together two halves of one or more transformer C-cores or similar has upper and lower brackets (1, 2) of U-shaped cross-section, each of which is formed with a lateral flange (4) at each corner. The brackets (1, 2) are secured together by bolts (3) passing through opposing flanges (4), the bolts being tightened to force together the two halves of each C-core (6) gripped between the brackets. The inner walls of the brackets (1, 2) are formed with dimples (9) which bear against the C-core halves to locate them in position. Screw-threaded holes may be provided in the brackets to take mounting bolts. Alternatively, the two brackets (1, 2) may bolt to end bridging members whose lengths are less than the height of the or each C-core to ensure that the brackets (1, 2) bear on the C-core halves. The device maintains the size of the transformer minimal (e.g. 2% increase in size) at low cost and compensates for differences in C-core size when two or more C-cores are secured between the brackets.
