A reheater comprises a bundle of tubes through which flows water to be reheated by steam charged to a shell surrounding the bundle. The bundle is fixed at each end of a plate. It has a horizontal portion on which the steam condenses and which is fixed by a curved portion to a portion in contact with which condensates are sub-cooled. The latter portion comprises a horizontal part situated below the horizontal portion where the condensn. of steam occurs. Shell comprises two horizontal elements each fixed externally on to an enclosure surrounding the semi-circular portion of the tube bundle. The enclosure pref. includes a flat or slightly convex plate on to which the two shell elements are welded and on which a hemispherical cover is welded on the periphery of the plate on the opposite side in relation to the two shell elements. The enclosure is pref. fitted with a condensate level controller. The invention improves the preheater described in the parent patent and the first addn. 7638872 in that the preheater is easier to set up and takes up less space and the enclosure constitutes a capacity in which hot water purges can be introduced allowing the preheater to be fed not only with steam but also with hot water purges.
