The vehicle battery discharge warning system comprising a relay (1) connected to the ignition switch (2) and powered from the battery circuit while the ignition is switched on. A buzzer (3) and lamp (4) are connected between the lighting switch (5) which supplies the side (6) and head lamps and the relay contact (7). While the ignition is switched on the buzzer and lamp are not operative. A switch (8) in series with the buzzer allows it to be switched off if the side lights are to be left on. In this case the visual indicator remains on. The alarm system for a motor vehicle indicates that the vehicle lights are on when the engine is switched off. This avoids the inconvenience of the battery being discharged to prevent it being restarted after a period of time.
