Pit forging press comprising a movable frame, constituted by upper or lower bed bases, one or more receptors in pit ensuring a mobile connection between the lower bed base and a fixed table bed base, which carries a lower die. /P P The cylinder (s) 10 and pistons 9 in the pit, dimensioned for the total pressing force, are connected by a filling distributor 14 to a BP reservoir 13, produced and used in the form of a unit positioning in connection with the return receivers. For pressing work, an additional receiver 15, 16 with a suitable short stroke and return is housed in the upper bed 5 in the form of a work receiver with an upper die holder 17. This work receiver and the return receivers 12 of the positioning unit are connected for control to a group of pumps HP 21 or to the HP accumulator 22 connected to the latter.
