Postal packets processing machine - identifies upper and lower edges to insert stamping and postcode respectively

The postal machine (10) contains a coding station (12) which inserts the postal code (20) on the front face (22) of postal packets (24). The lower edge is identified for this process and an endless belt transports the packets horizontally to allow the coding pulley wheels to contact the packet. A conveyor transports the packets to a stamping station (14) where the stamps (34) are printed on the packets after indentification of the upper edge. A D-shaped pulley (42) progresses the packets and deflector (45) orientates them for a storage area (44).
