The cashier's desk can be closed at the back and front by two mobile walls (7, 8). These are raised and lowered in synchronisation in a direction transversal to that of the opening in the desk. Each wall is moved by connecting rods (12, 13, 15, 16) mounted on a rotating shaft. The descent of at least one wall, in its raised position, is blocked by a slide (26), fixed on the shaft, which can move in a direction perpendicular to the walls. The slide is moved by a rotating disc (19) with an oblique guide at one extremity.
