A split sleeve is used to enclose part of a bicycle tube having a freshly repaired puncture, so as to be able to test the effectiveness of new patch under pressure before remounting the tube within the tyre. Opt. the sleeve has an orifice at one place opposite the slot, to accommodate the valve if necessary. Pref. the sleeve is formed to match the radius of the tube.
