The machine has a frame, mounted on wheels for mobility and fitted with vertical guides. A horizontal head can move in these guides, first being raised and positioned over the silage. The head descends by gravity, under its own weight, and the silage is extracted and passed onto an elevator. The head comprises an endless conveyor belt (24) which is equipped with tools to remove and convey the silage. The tools are spaced in parallel transverse rows, each row having a number of curved (26) and straight (27) fingers interspersed together at intervals.
