Intravascular Loop Probe Having Two Mutually Perpendicular Loop Sensors

In intravascular blood flow measurement a loop probe includes two lenticular, compressible, resilient, and expansible wire loops L1, L2 disposed in planes substantially mutually perpendicular to each other for operation in a blood conduit transversed by a magnetic field externally applied. The loops are insulatively joined at the point of maximum curvature 19. The open ends of the loops continue as wires 14'a, 14'b, 16'a, 16'b that pass through a ground ring 18 and are cemented to form a stem for inserting the probe into the conduit via a catheter. Central portions of loop wires are bared to serve as electrodes E'1, E'2, E''1, E''2. An electric signal processing circuit (Fig. 3 not shown) is disclosed wherein the signals from each loop are added together after amplifying and squaring and the result of the addition is supplied to a square not forming circuit.
