A temporary tunnel support (1) which can be advanced along the tunnel comprises three support arches (2, 3, 4) each having hydraulic prop supports (5, 6, 7) at their lower ends and supporting side bars (20, 21) against the sides of the tunnel and roof bars (23) against the roof of the tunnel. The lower ends of the arches are liked by double-acting cylinders (14) and an upper cylinder (15) is disposed below the roof. Each bar (20, 21, 23) can be slid backwards or forwards relative to the central arch (3) by rams (26).
