PURPOSE:To make such auxiliary machines as the upriser, the reverser, the sideways turner, etc., unnecessary, in order to greatly shorten the length of the line, by inserting the sideways turned can drum into a pocket of the turret, by tight curling the edge of the cover material, and by taking away them as they are. CONSTITUTION:Many cover materials 2 are horizontally piled up within the cover material feeder C, and the driver H is driven to operate all apparatus A-G, so as to insert the can drum 1 into a pocket 75 of the turret B by a conveyer. A cover material 2 is horizontally dropped one by one by the cover material feeder C and is fed upon the frame 54 of the loading apparatus D; this cover material 2 uprises with the rotation of the frame 54 and is pushed by the push rod and is charged into a pocket 75 at a position D' of the turret B. The can drum 1 and the cover material 2 joined at a position A' of the turret B are transferred to a position E1' by the 60 deg. turn of the turret B; their edges are preliminarily curled by the first curler E1; then the can drum 1 and the cover material 2 are transferred to a position E2' and are applied the main curling work by the second curler E2. The can drum finished the curling work is taken out of the pocket 75 by the extractor F and is sent to the next process by the conveyer G.
