OPTICAL TRANSMISSION BODY FOR INFRARED SPECTRUM REGION

摘要

PURPOSE:To readily produce the optical transmission body of high reliability by covering the core part and clad part composd of thallium halide composition by the metal layer which is stretchable at temperature lower than the melting point of the above composition. CONSTITUTION:A core part 1 and clad part 2 are constituted by the thallium halide composition composed of one or more kinds of thallium iodide, thallium bromide and thallium chloride and a metal layer 3 is provided thereon to provide the optical transmission body for infrared spectrum regions. Said optical transmission body is formed by inserting the rod of the thallium halide composition which forms the core and clad part into a bottomed metal pipe composed of metals [e.g., (aluminum alloy)] which may be stretched at the melting temperature of said composition or less and sealing the metal pipe then working the pipe to a desired wire diameter by a method such as swaging, grooved roll rolling or die drawing.
