PURPOSE:To make high-reliability and economical trouble-shoot possible, by detecting a peculiar pattern from the inversion position of ''0'' and ''1'' in a false random signal and by identifying a repeater which outputs fault position information. CONSTITUTION:In case that a fault occurs in reproducing repeater R1K, or the control signal transmitted from the terminal station is detected, a fault position information signal is transmitted in the going path direction or/and the returning path direction and is transmitted to the terminal station. Occurrence of the fault is detected and the inversion position of ''1'' and ''0'' of the false random signal in the signal sequence of the fault position information signal is detected by detecting the fault position information signal having a specific period by monitor units M and M' of the terminal station, and a pattern peculiar to the repeater is discriminated on the basis of this inversion position, thereby identifying faulty repeater R1K.
