RECLAMATION OF WASTE POLYVINYL CHLORIDE FILM FOR AGRICULTURE* FORESTRY OR FISHERY USE

PURPOSE:To reclaim, at a low cost, a PVC film, by the extraction of a plasticizer and by the removal of earth and water by the treatment of a crushed PVC film, to which earth and water are fixed, with an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:1-10pts.wt. of an organic solvent (e.g., benzene or methanol), capable of dissolving a plasticizer and forming an azeotropic mixture with water, are added to 1pts.wt. of a crushed waste PVC film for agriculture, forestry or fishery use, to which earth and/or water are fixed, and then the plasticizer is extracted and the earth and/or the water are removed by heating the resulting mixture at 20- 150 deg.C under reflux. The obtained extract solution is filtered, separating from the earth, and subjected to azeotropic distillation, to separate the plasticizer.
