ROPE GROOVE ABRASION DETECTER FOR HOIST SHEAVE OF ELEVATOR

PURPOSE:To measure the rope groove abrasion amount of a hoist sheave by holding an electrode against the sheave surface and detecting the variation in electrostatic capacitance between the electrode and the lifting rope. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 13 is disposed facing to a lifting rope 12 with an appropriate space therebetween. There is produced an electrostatic capacitance C0 between the rope 12 and the electrode 13 because of the presence of air as a dielectric. When a rope groove is worn away, the rope 12 is sunk. Thus, the space between the rope 12 and the electrode 13 is changed so that the elelctrostatic capacitance between the rope 12 and the electrode 13 is varied. Rope groove abrasion amount of the sheave 3 can be detected by measuring the degree of said variation.
