PURPOSE:To carry out the dyeing and the painting on a blank bamboo without generating discoloration by a method wherein a blank bamboo is boiled in the presence of a basic dyestuff and, thereafter, immersed in an acidic bleaching agent and, after drying, subjected to the polishing operation and the finish painting by a transparent paint. CONSTITUTION:A blank bamboo for bamboo workmanship boiled at first in a 5% aqueous solution of a basic dyestuff for 40-60min and, thereafter, immersed in an acidic bleaching agent at room temp. for 1-2hr. Subsequently, the treated blank bamboo is dried and, thereafter, polished and subjected to the finish painting with a neutral or an acidic transparent paint. When a blank bamboo is dyed and painted by said method, the generation of discoloration is prevented and bamboo fibers can be dyed beautifully.
