METHOD OF DETECTING LEAK IN COOLING LIQUID CIRCULATING SYSTEM IN HIGH PRESSURE GAS ATMOSPHERE

PURPOSE:To accurately and early detect a leak of a cooling liquid circulation system in a high pressure gas atmosphere by measuring the change in the natural frequency of the pipe in the circulating system which is caused by mixed gas bubble due to the leak. CONSTITUTION:To detect a leak in a cooling liquid circulation system in a high pressure gas atmosphere such as a cooling system for the tuyeres of a blast furnace, a bypass route 4 is installed to the cooling water circulation system for on object 2 to be cooled. The cooling water is cleaned with a strainer 7 installed to the route 4; the flow rate, temperature, and pressure are measured with a flow meter 8, thermometer 9, and pressure gauge 9P; and a leak in the cooling water circulation system is detected by a leak detector 10. The detector 10 consists of a U-pipe connected to the route 4 and passes the cooling water. If a leak occurs, bubbles are formed in the cooling water, and the presence of bubbles changes the natural frequency of the U-pipe. This change is measured and monitored by an indicator 13, alarm 14, and recorder 15, effecting an early and accurate leak detection in the circulating system 3.
